Bridging the Gap: Summer Program Eases Freshmen Into Life at Westlake University Westlake University officially welcomed its newest cohort of undergraduates on Aug. 10. While most universities begin the academic year in September, Westlake starts nearly a month earlier. The reason? To give incoming students a head start through an intensive orientation known as the Westlake Summer Bridge Program—a three-to-four-week experience designed to guide students from the world of high school into the rhythm of university life.
